The Camdex Lab is run by The Camdex Lab Organisation (“we”, “us”). This page explains what we collect when you use thecamdexlab.com and our social channels, why, and the choices you have. The short version: you can watch and read everything without an account, and we do not sell personal data.
1. What we collect on this website
No account is needed. You can watch videos and read research briefs without signing in or giving us any personal details.
Settings saved on your own device. Your light or dark theme, your “My List” and how far you watched each video are saved in your browser’s local storage. They stay on your device and are not sent to us. You can clear them at any time by clearing your browser’s site data.
Server logs. Our hosting provider, Vercel, keeps standard technical logs when your browser loads a page, such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. These are used to keep the site running and secure, and are kept for a short period.
No advertising or tracking cookies. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not run analytics or tracking tools on this website today. If we add privacy-friendly visitor statistics in future, we will update this page first.
Email. If you write to us, we use your email address and message only to reply, and we keep them only as long as needed for that.
2. Optional Google sign-in (planned)
We plan to add an optional “Sign in with Google” button so you can keep My List and your watch progress across devices. It is not live yet. When it launches, signing in will stay optional, and we will receive only your name, email address and profile picture from Google, used only to run your account. We will update this page before the feature goes live.
3. Videos and other services on the site
Full episodes and previews play through Vimeo. When a Vimeo video plays, Vimeo may receive technical information such as your IP address, under the Vimeo Privacy Policy. Links to YouTube, TikTok, Facebook and Instagram take you to those platforms, where their own privacy policies apply.
4. How we use the YouTube, TikTok and Meta APIs
We use the YouTube Data API, the TikTok Content Posting API and the Meta (Facebook and Instagram) APIs only to publish The Camdex Lab’s own videos, titles and captions to The Camdex Lab’s own channels, and to read basic information about those posts (such as whether an upload succeeded).
- We do not use these APIs to access, collect or store data about viewers or any other user’s account.
- The access tokens these platforms give us are stored securely and used only by our own publishing system.
- We do not sell, share or transfer any data received from these APIs to anyone.
Our use of YouTube API Services is subject to the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. Access granted to Google services can be removed at any time in Google Account permissions. TikTok and Meta access can be removed in each platform’s app settings.
5. Comments on our social channels
When you comment on our YouTube, TikTok, Facebook or Instagram posts, your comment is public on that platform and is handled under that platform’s privacy policy. We may read comments to answer questions and to choose topics for future episodes. We do not copy comments into a separate database.
6. Sharing
We do not sell personal data. We share data only with the service providers needed to run the site (Vercel for hosting, Vimeo for video, Sanity for our content system, which holds no visitor data), or when the law requires it.
7. Your choices and deleting your data
Settings saved on your device can be removed by clearing your browser’s site data for thecamdexlab.com. To ask what data we hold about you, or to have it corrected or deleted, email info@thecamdexlab.com with the subject “Data request”. We will reply within 30 days. If you have connected an account to us through Google, TikTok or Meta, you can also remove our access in that platform’s settings at any time.
8. Children
The Camdex Lab is made for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Important changes will also be announced on the site.
